Mull, the 1st time

Over to Mull, just Stephen and I

We were playing there just the one night

Then over to Oban the very next day

The weekend should be alright

The road to Mull was winding and long

And two ferries we had to catch

It was an adventure to travel so far

As an island’s a bit off our patch

But not to be outdone we went on our way

And finally we arrived safe on Mull

I didn’t get sea-sick which pleased me no-end

As the weather was windy and dull

We found MacGochan’s and wandered inside

And ordered a drink and a bite

We spoke to the barmaid who dropped a hint

That we were playing there an extra night

Not to worry, clean pants we had brought

But what would we do there all day

We’d worry tomorrow whenever we rise

Let’s get tonight out of the way

The craic there was brilliant, the gig went down well

But at the end I’d lost my voice

I was croaky and squeaky what would I do

So I was quiet – I had no other choice

When we woke the next morning (well lunchtime in fact)

We had coffee and decided what to do

“Let’s go for a pub crawl in Tobermory!”

Then we found out there were only two

All afternoon we sat in the pub

And talked about days gone by

About childhood, the future and having a laugh

Then Stephen looked up to this guy

“Hello!” said the guy “it’s ol’ Cheesy Broon!”

I wondered what he had taken

But Cheesy was Stephen’s nickname in school

Another story to tell in the making

It turned out the guy was an old friend from school

They’d not been in touch for years

It is a small world after all

So they talked over several beers

We all chatted for ages then we had to go

There was work that had to be done

Back to change for another night

How I love this life of fun!

Night number two was equally good

A few new faces that night

They boogied away till the very last song

Mull is really alright

As we packed up the gear for our journey home

We saw someone had been very bad

They’d reversed their vehicle into our van

And Stephen was pretty mad

No sorry note to say “here’s my details

I misjudged the length of my car”

How can you live with yourself you big shite

But we’ll find out who you are

We’re coming back to Mull again

But this time on a mission

We’re taking back-up so be very scared

And watch your parking position!!
